We can define atellans farces as a form of theater born in Atela, a city of the Italian Campania, which initially emerged as a popular form of theater satirical and grotesque nature: Originally it was people from the street, with some desire to clutter and debauchery, which through small improvisations put on stage fashion themes, social and political gossip and stories of spicy character. A divertimento precursor of the Commedia dell'Arte.
